The NDA alliance partners in Karnataka have requested the Chief Electoral Officer to investigate alleged irregularities in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi, H.D. Kumaraswamy, Shobha Karandlaje, along with other leaders, expressed concerns over what they termed as significant irregularities in the electoral roll revision process.
In a joint letter to the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbu Kumar, the leaders highlighted that the prescribed procedures for the SIR exercise were not being followed by officials in various parts of Karnataka. They accused officials of filling out enumeration forms at inappropriate locations like community halls and mosques, instead of conducting door-to-door verifications as mandated.
The NDA leaders emphasized that these actions not only violate the Election Commission’s guidelines but also raise doubts about the fairness and secular nature of the electoral process. They stressed the importance of maintaining the integrity of electoral rolls and called for immediate corrective measures to address the reported deviations.
The leaders underscored the need for a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities and insisted on re-verifying all enumeration forms through door-to-door checks. They demanded strict legal actions against any officials or political figures found responsible for the irregularities, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the Election Commission’s prescribed procedures.
