Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has expressed his support for the uncensored use of slang and swear words in movies. At the trailer launch of his upcoming film O Romeo, he emphasized that such language should not be censored, referring to them as ‘poetry’ when used appropriately.
Bhardwaj highlighted the societal hypocrisy regarding the acceptance of abusive language in public spaces versus its portrayal in cinema. He stated that movies serve as a reflection of society and should not be blamed for depicting reality.
Regarding the incorporation of abusive language in O Romeo, Bhardwaj shared how he convinced veteran actress Farida Jalal to deliver such dialogues. He praised Jalal for her powerful performance, acknowledging her dedication to the role despite challenges during the shoot.
Reflecting on the strong women in his life, Bhardwaj credited them for their resilience and influence. He emphasized the strength of women, recalling instances where women in his family displayed remarkable courage and authority.
O Romeo, featuring Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri, is described by Bhardwaj as a love story set against a backdrop of violence. The film, scheduled for release on February 13, portrays an intense and compelling narrative.
