Two individuals lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries in a fire that erupted in a multi-storey building on GJ Khan Road in East Kolkata’s Tapsia area. The injured victims are currently receiving treatment in the hospital for burns, with their condition reported as critical.
Upon receiving the news, four fire engines promptly arrived at the scene to combat the blaze. The fire originated on the second floor of a four-story building, quickly spreading and enveloping the vicinity in black smoke. Locals alerted the fire department, leading to a swift response with the deployment of multiple fire engines.
The intensity of the fire resulted in five individuals being trapped in the room, seeking refuge in the bathroom to evade the flames. Despite rescue efforts by fire officials, two individuals succumbed to severe respiratory distress, while the condition of the remaining three victims remains critical. Authorities are concerned that the death toll may rise, although the cause of the fire remains unknown.
