Five individuals have been apprehended for trying to steal buffaloes in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh. The police reported that one suspect is on the run, while another is receiving medical treatment due to injuries sustained in a police encounter. Circle Officer Deepak Kumar stated that the Gulaothi Police Station was alerted on July 4 about a group planning to load buffaloes into a vehicle near the cattle market.
The suspects, upon being surrounded by the police, resorted to firing at the officers. In response, one suspect was injured in the leg by a bullet. Alongside this individual, five others were arrested, with one managing to escape. The police are currently conducting a search operation to capture the fugitive. The injured suspect has been taken to a primary health center for treatment.
The arrested individuals have a history of criminal activities, as per initial interrogations. They were previously involved in two cases of cattle theft in different police stations. Moreover, they have been engaging in similar unlawful activities in various districts. The police have recovered illegal firearms, live ammunition, a pickup van, and two buffaloes from the accused.
In a separate incident in Mathura district, a fierce encounter occurred between the police and a gang of cattle thieves. The police recovered a significant amount of cash, illegal weapons, and ammunition from the suspects post the confrontation. Authorities mentioned that the Jait Police Station personnel encountered a suspected gang of cattle thieves during routine checks on suspicious vehicles and individuals linked to cattle smuggling.
