Flight and rail services in North India faced disruptions on Sunday morning due to dense fog, affecting visibility and normal movement. The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for Delhi, warning of dense fog and cold wave-like conditions. Delhi’s air quality remained ‘very poor,’ with pollution and fog reducing visibility and causing travel disruptions.
Rail services were severely impacted, with many trains running behind schedule and some being diverted. Flights in cities like Delhi experienced delays, with potential cancellations. Over four dozen trains in northern India were delayed due to dense fog, leading to inconvenience for passengers. Trains were running late, and speeds were reduced for safety.
Several trains, including the Prayagraj Express and Rewa-Anand Vihar Express, faced significant delays. Air traffic operations were also affected, with airlines like SpiceJet, Air India, and IndiGo issuing travel advisories for possible delays. Passengers were urged to check their flight and train statuses before heading to stations or airports.
Both airlines and railway authorities advised passengers to stay updated on their travel plans. SpiceJet and Air India issued weather-related advisories for cities like Delhi, Amritsar, and Varanasi. IndiGo recommended passengers to monitor their flight statuses through official channels. The Delhi Airport administration cautioned that flight schedules might change due to low visibility conditions.
