Flight operations in various parts of the country faced significant disruptions as dense fog led to poor visibility, causing distress for passengers at multiple airports. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has officially declared the period from December 10 to February 10, 2026, as the fog window for this season. In Delhi, visibility dropped to around 125 meters, severely affecting flight movements.
Sharing a passenger advisory, the Delhi Airport informed that flights were operating under CAT III conditions due to dense fog, potentially causing delays or cancellations. Inbound flights to Delhi were diverted due to poor visibility, air traffic congestion, and resulting delays, further inconveniencing passengers. Airlines like IndiGo and SpiceJet issued warnings about possible disruptions and delays due to the adverse weather conditions.
Air India cautioned passengers about potential impacts on routes across North India, particularly in Delhi, due to low visibility caused by dense fog. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued a warning about possible disruptions at select airports in Northern India, advising passengers to stay updated with their respective airlines for the latest flight information. AAI also assured the deployment of assistance teams at affected airports to support travelers during adverse weather conditions.
In a specific incident, an Air India Express flight from Goa to Delhi had to be diverted to Ahmedabad due to dense fog, causing delays and frustration among passengers. The aircraft’s inability to land in Jaipur due to similar conditions led to its safe landing in Ahmedabad. Passengers expressed anger over the lack of clarity and prolonged delays at Ahmedabad airport as dense fog continued to disrupt air travel in northern and eastern parts of the country.
