A special edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle saw a sea of Forest Guards in uniform cycling through India Gate. The event, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, aimed to promote nature and healthy living. Over 750 cyclists participated in the “Guardians of Nature” edition, honoring World Forest Day and World Water Day.
The event included Zumba sessions, yoga routines, and rope skipping activities before the cycling races began. Dignitaries like P. Viswakannan, Chief Conservator of Forests, were honored for their contributions to environmental conservation. Public-sector partners like Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) were also recognized for their support.
Key officials from the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) were acknowledged for promoting sports and fitness. The event, held simultaneously in over 5,000 locations across India, aimed to create a national movement for health, fitness, and environmental awareness. Former athletes and forest guards were recognized for their efforts in sports and environmental conservation.
Competitive races featured enthusiastic participation, with winners from different categories. The event also included a community cycling ride and various activity zones to engage participants. The initiative, launched in December 2024, continues to advocate for fitness as a daily routine and support sustainable practices.
