A corruption complaint against former Chief Secretary Arun Mehta in the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) case has been dismissed by a Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Court in Jammu. The complaint, filed by retired IAS officer A.K. Parmar, alleged irregularities and corruption in the implementation of the water supply scheme.
The court accepted the findings of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), stating that the allegations were baseless and lacked evidence. The ACB report revealed no misappropriation of funds or violations in the tendering process for procurement of pipes under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
This was the second complaint filed by Parmar on the same issue, with the court having dismissed his earlier complaint as well. The Central Information Commission (CIC) had also disposed of Parmar’s complaints regarding RTI applications, noting that the departments had provided appropriate replies under the RTI Act.
With the dismissal of the complaint, the court has effectively cleared former Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta and Jal Shakti Department officials of the allegations, based on the investigating agency’s findings.
