Former Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi, a close associate of caretaker Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, mentioned that the Congress would select its leader in the Legislature Party Meeting (CLP) first, followed by decisions on cabinet formation and the creation of Deputy Chief Minister posts. Jarkiholi emphasized the importance of appointing the leader before other developments occur, stating that the party’s decision would be respected by all.
Stressing the acceptance of the leadership’s decision, Jarkiholi, a prominent Congress figure, highlighted the need for clarity amid ongoing discussions over leadership changes in Karnataka. He acknowledged the potential confusion within the party and the limitations on cabinet berths due to constitutional constraints.
Regarding the ongoing discussions on the creation of Deputy Chief Minister posts, Jarkiholi mentioned that the matter was still under consideration by the Congress party. He also addressed the possibility of senior leaders being replaced by younger faces in the cabinet, emphasizing the importance of a balanced mix of experience and youth.
Jarkiholi indicated that the decision on the swearing-in ceremony’s timing would be made by the party leadership. He also mentioned the need for a coordination committee, as proposed by Siddaramaiah, to enhance cooperation between the party and the government, with the final decision expected post the CLP meeting.
Encouraging patience, Jarkiholi urged waiting for further developments after the CLP meeting, emphasizing the step-by-step nature of the decision-making process within the party.
