Two years after a roadside dispute led to a political uproar, Yadu Krishnan, a former temporary driver for the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation, is making a comeback as a driver at the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Krishnan lost his job in 2024 due to a controversy involving CPI (M) leaders Arya Rajendran and her husband, K.M. Sachin Dev.
Since then, Krishnan has faced financial struggles after being ousted from KSRTC and working as a delivery person. His situation changed when Congress MLA Chandy Oommen recommended him to the new Assembly Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, who appointed him as a temporary driver for the Legislature. Starting June 19, Krishnan will drive the bus transporting legislators during session days.
Although his appointment is temporary and limited to session days, it has sparked political discussions, with the Congress viewing it as a gesture of support for someone they believe was treated unfairly. The move is seen in contrast to the earlier image of Arya Rajendran and Sachin Dev, who were once hailed by the CPI (M) as symbols of a new political era.
Yadu Krishnan’s return, facilitated by a Congress-supported appointment at the Assembly, has added a new political twist to the incident.
