A former three-time Trinamool Congress legislator, Giasuddin Molla, lodged a police complaint against party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and police officer Mitun Kumar Dey in Magrahat (Paschim) Assembly constituency. Molla, who also served in Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet, expressed his fear of police action and party retaliation before filing the complaint. He highlighted his faith in the new administration led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
Molla, a former legislator from Magrahat (Pashim) and ex-West Bengal Minister of State for Minority Affairs, revealed his silence out of fear of reprisal. He emphasized his decision to speak up now due to his confidence in the current administration. Denied re-nomination in the recent elections, Molla accused Mitun Kumar Dey of mistreating party members who opposed Abhishek Banerjee’s leadership style.
Having served as a legislator from 2011 to 2026, Molla criticized Dey for his actions against party members and his own intervention being met with threats. He alleged that Dey’s actions were at the behest of Abhishek Banerjee. Dey had faced restrictions from the Election Commission of India during the recent state polls, and an FIR was filed against Banerjee for alleged violence incitement before the elections.
