Four farmers lost their lives, and four others were injured in Telangana’s Mancherial district when an iron shed collapsed due to heavy winds. The tragic incident took place in Luxettipet amidst strong winds and rain. The deceased farmers were identified as Venkatesh, Abhiram, Lacchanna, and Nagaraju, while the injured have been hospitalized in Luxettipet and Karimnagar.

Trees were uprooted, and electricity poles fell due to the severe winds in the region, with thunderstorms affecting various districts of Telangana. Farmers waiting at procurement centers faced significant losses as their produce, including paddy and maize, was damaged by the heavy rains. The grains stored outside procurement centers in Peddapalli district were also ruined, leading to substantial losses for the farmers who had been waiting for procurement for the past ten days.

Bharat Rashtrta Samithi (BRS) working President K.T. Rama Rao expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased farmers in Luxettipet. He criticized the delay in procurement by authorities, leading to massive losses for farmers. Rao urged the state government to provide Rs 25 lakh as ex gratia to the families of the deceased and ensure better medical assistance for the injured farmers.

State BJP President N. Ramchander Rao also mourned the deaths of the farmers, emphasizing the tragic circumstances under which they lost their lives while safeguarding harvested rice in the fields during adverse weather conditions. He called on the state government to extend financial aid to the families of the deceased and provide necessary support during this challenging period.
