A new Western Disturbance has become active over Rajasthan, leading to rain and thunderstorms in various parts of the state in the last 24 hours. Sri Vijaynagar in Sri Ganganagar district recorded the highest rainfall at 85 mm, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has predicted increased weather activity over the next 48 hours, with intense thunderstorms, gusty winds up to 60-70 kmph, and moderate to heavy rainfall expected in parts of Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer divisions, and the Shekhawati region.
The IMD has also forecast scattered light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms and strong winds, in sections of the Jodhpur, Udaipur, and Kota divisions during the same period. The current weather conditions are influenced by the newly active Western Disturbance, which is anticipated to maintain an unstable atmosphere across significant parts of the state. Residents are advised to be cautious during thunderstorm activity, especially in areas likely to face strong winds and lightning.
Officials mention that thunderstorm and gusty wind activity may continue at isolated spots in the Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions from June 21 to June 24. However, rainfall is expected to gradually decrease over southern Rajasthan in the upcoming days. Meanwhile, temperatures have varied across the state, with Sri Ganganagar recording the highest temperature at 41.5 degrees Celsius. Phalodi and Jalore reported the highest overnight temperature at 30.2 degrees C, while Pilani (Jhunjhunu) and Sikar noted the lowest minimum temperature at 21.5 degrees Celsius.
The recent rainfall has brought relief from soaring temperatures in several districts and is likely to enhance moisture levels across parts of the state.
