Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati unfurled the national flag at the Republic Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar. The event marked the 77th Republic Day of the nation. A parade with 46 contingents from various services and educational institutions was held at Mahatma Gandhi Marg.
A total of 14 tableaux from different government departments showcased Odisha’s development initiatives and cultural heritage. Following the parade, cultural performances were presented by various troupes, adding color to the celebrations. Governor Kambhampati extended warm greetings to the people of Odisha in his Republic Day message.
In his address, Governor Kambhampati paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, other freedom fighters, and the framers of the Constitution. He also honored the Armed Forces, paramilitary forces, and police for their bravery and sacrifices in protecting the nation. The Governor highlighted the significance of the Indian Constitution as the world’s largest written constitution.
Governor Kambhampati emphasized the importance of citizens’ collective efforts in building a strong democratic nation. He expressed the vision for Odisha to become one of the top five state economies by 2036. The Governor outlined the state government’s target of achieving a 500 billion US dollar economy by Odisha’s centenary in 2036.
To meet the economic goals, the state government is focusing on sectors like renewable energy, petrochemicals, textiles, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, IT, and semiconductors. Enhanced security measures, including CCTV surveillance and traffic restrictions, were implemented to ensure public safety during the celebrations.
