The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau has filed a case against Ashwin Chaudhari, a Class-I Chief Electrical Inspector, for amassing assets worth Rs 2.64 crore. Chaudhari is accused of issuing certificates for solar projects without proper inspections and allegedly accepting bribes.
Authorities intercepted Chaudhari’s vehicle and found cash and vouchers amounting to Rs 5,51,730. Further investigations led to the discovery of additional assets in his residences in Gandhinagar and Surat. The total value of assets seized reached Rs 2,64,97,880.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau suspects that Chaudhari accumulated these assets through corrupt practices and unauthorized payments. Chaudhari’s approval of solar project applications without proper inspections is under scrutiny, with suspicions raised about the speed and lack of scrutiny in his approvals.
Deputy Director Bharti Pandya mentioned that Chaudhari’s financial records, properties, and family assets will be thoroughly investigated. The case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the extent of the alleged corruption.
