Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel took part in two Jagannath Rath Yatra processions in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar district on Ashadhi Bij. He kicked off the fifth Rath Yatra of the Jagannath Temple at Adalaj and later inaugurated the 19th Rath Yatra organized by SGVP Gurukul in Memnagar.
At the Jagannath Temple in Adalaj, Chief Minister Patel performed the traditional ‘Pahind Vidhi’ with a golden broom before starting the temple’s fifth Rath Yatra. He also conducted the Mangala Aarti for Lord Jagannath and was welcomed by the temple administration with a floral garland and a traditional turban.
Devotees gathered in large numbers early in the morning to offer prayers to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra at the Adalaj Rath Yatra. The procession, organized by the Shri Jagannath Cultural Academy and Research Centre, followed a route through various places before returning to the temple in the evening.
Later in the day, Patel visited SGVP Gurukul in Memnagar, where he flagged off the institution’s 19th Jagannath Rath Yatra. He prayed for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of the people before commencing the procession, which was part of the celebrations marking significant anniversaries.
