The Gujarat government has given initial approval to 80% of the new measures outlined in this year’s state budget. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has urged departments to expedite the implementation process to ensure prompt delivery of benefits to the citizens. During a cabinet meeting in Gandhinagar, Patel directed officials to swiftly clear pending proposals affected by the recent election’s model code of conduct.
Government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani stated that over 80% of the new initiatives in the state budget have received in-principle approval. He emphasized the need to promptly clear remaining proposals impacted by the model code of conduct to facilitate the swift implementation of schemes. The state budget for 2026-27, amounting to Rs 4.08 lakh crore, focuses on areas such as infrastructure, student welfare, healthcare, tourism, and preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
Patel stressed the importance of citizens benefiting from the newly announced schemes at the earliest possible. Departments have been tasked with expediting administrative processes, including approvals and implementation planning. Discussions in the cabinet meeting also revolved around providing scholarship support to students in preparation for the upcoming academic year.
Officials were instructed to ensure that all eligible students receive scholarships once schools and colleges resume post-summer vacation. Continuous monitoring mechanisms are to be put in place to guarantee that every deserving student receives their due scholarship. The government’s push for accelerated execution aligns with its focus on timely implementation of budget proposals and administrative reforms.
Gujarat’s development plans for 2026-27 encompass initiatives for infrastructure expansion, legal reforms, and investment-oriented projects. The cabinet meeting also saw ministers extending congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the successful conclusion of his Gujarat visit, which included various public events and roadshows across the state. The government’s agenda for the current financial year emphasizes the efficient execution of development projects and citizen services.
