Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan highlighted the importance of media in nurturing democracies during the 80th Foundation Day celebrations of Organiser Weekly. He stressed the need for media to inform, ask meaningful questions, and promote informed public debate while upholding credibility and professional standards. Radhakrishnan underlined that press freedom is significant when exercised with courage and responsibility.
The Vice-President commended Organiser’s longstanding commitment to public discourse and its role in India’s history since Independence. He mentioned the publication’s resilience and continuity in engaging with crucial issues over the years. Radhakrishnan also acknowledged Organiser’s legal battle against censorship in 1949 as a landmark event in India’s media freedom evolution.
Organiser’s contribution to various national issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, national security, and socio-political movements, was recognized by the Vice-President. He praised the publication’s archival documentation of India’s political and social evolution, emphasizing its role in shaping Hindutva discourse. Radhakrishnan lauded Organiser for highlighting overlooked issues and promoting constitutional democracy during critical periods like the Emergency.
