Gujarat holds the largest share of India’s renewable energy capacity, contributing 17.82% to the national total. The state’s cumulative renewable energy capacity has reached 50.386 GW, with Gujarat playing a significant role in meeting the country’s clean energy objectives.
India aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070 and plans to fulfill 50% of its electricity needs from renewable sources by 2030. Gujarat stands out with the highest installed wind power capacity in the nation at 15,850.56 MW and ranks second in solar power capacity with 32,302.7 MW.
The state leads in rooftop solar deployment, boasting over 13 lakh installations with a combined capacity of 7,408.10 MW. Gujarat’s solar capacity includes ground-mounted projects, rooftop systems, hybrid projects, and off-grid systems, highlighting its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Major solar parks like Charanka, Radhanesda, and Dholera, along with the ambitious Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Kutch, underscore Gujarat’s position as a key player in the renewable energy landscape.
Rooftop solar adoption has surged in Gujarat, with the state accounting for more than 21% of all rooftop solar installations in the country. The growth in renewable energy has not only advanced environmental goals but also created over 2.37 lakh direct and indirect jobs in the state.
