The roads in Gujarat’s Valsad region, once a cause of concern for locals and visitors due to potholes and poor infrastructure, have undergone a significant transformation recently. The city administration’s road repair initiative has led to a remarkable improvement, offering a smoother and more pleasant driving experience for commuters.
The adoption of state-of-the-art mastic asphalt technology for road construction and repair has revolutionized the region’s road infrastructure. Today, the roads in Vapi, an industrial town in Valsad district, are accommodating vehicles smoothly and efficiently.
Previously, heavy monsoon rains would wreak havoc on the roads annually, leading to potholes and extensive damage. This posed challenges for residents, industries, and heavy vehicle traffic. However, the implementation of advanced technology by the administration has effectively addressed this long-standing issue.
Jatin Patel, Executive Engineer of Valsad Roads and Buildings Department, highlighted that Vapi, receiving substantial rainfall annually, faced rapid road deterioration due to heavy vehicle movement. While cement concrete (CC) roads were an option, the focus was on enhancing road longevity and finding a sustainable solution.
By embracing mastic asphalt technology, the city now boasts robust roads that withstand the rainy season, delighting residents. The new construction approach has significantly improved road conditions, reducing the inconvenience caused by deteriorating roads during monsoons.
Local residents, including Arvind Shah and Pawan Sharma, have lauded the road construction using mastic asphalt technology in Vapi. They emphasized the effectiveness of this method in a high rainfall area like Vapi, foreseeing durable and reliable roads in the future. The initiative not only benefits residents but also supports industries and commercial activities in the region, setting an example for other cities facing similar challenges.
