Gunfire was reported near Venezuela’s presidential palace, leading to the evacuation of government buildings. The situation was swiftly brought under control, as confirmed by a government source. Security forces reacted to unidentified drones flying over the central Caracas palace by opening fire, according to Xinhua news agency.

US President Donald Trump stated that Venezuela would not hold elections within the next month, emphasizing the need to address the country’s issues first. Trump also mentioned the involvement of key officials like Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth in overseeing US intervention in Venezuela. Additionally, he proposed potential subsidization of US oil companies to invest in and revamp Venezuela’s energy infrastructure.

Despite recent events, Trump clarified that the United States is not in a state of war with Venezuela. Maduro, who faced charges in New York, maintained his leadership stance, while Vice President Delcy Rodriguez assumed the role of acting president. Trump highlighted the cooperation between Rodriguez and US authorities, emphasizing the importance of access to Venezuela’s oil.

Rodriguez, in response, demanded the immediate release of Maduro and his wife, labeling the US actions as a severe assault on Venezuela. The international community expressed shock over the US intervention in Venezuela, following Trump’s assertion that the US holds authority over the country.
