In a move to modernize Haryana’s revenue administration, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has given the green light for setting up the Haryana Revenue Training Academy in Umri, Kurukshetra district. The academy, to be built on 14 acres at an estimated cost of about Rs 100 crore, aims to become the primary training center for revenue officers and field-level staff in the state. Financial Commissioner (Revenue) Sumita Misra highlighted the academy’s role in enhancing the professional skills of revenue officials to tackle challenges in land administration, disaster management, and public service delivery.
The decision to establish the academy follows a comprehensive evaluation by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to find a suitable location, as announced in the Haryana Budget 2026-27. After reviewing various proposals from Kurukshetra district, Gram Panchayat Umri was chosen as the most suitable site for the project. Sumita Misra emphasized that the chosen location offers logistical advantages, being situated on National Highway 44 with easy access to administrative offices and government departments, just two kilometers away from the Mini Secretariat and tehsil complex.
The Haryana Revenue Training Academy is envisioned as a cutting-edge institution dedicated to training revenue officers, patwaris, kanungos, and other field-level officials. It will focus on modern land governance practices, digitization of land records, revenue laws, dispute resolution mechanisms, land acquisition procedures, disaster management, and emerging challenges in public administration. The academy is expected to elevate training standards, enhance capacity building, and drive efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness in revenue administration across Haryana.
