Heavy rains in Ameenpur and Beeramguda near Hyderabad led to flooding in low-lying areas. In Ameenpur, rainwater entered homes and submerged vehicles in apartment complexes, causing damage to household items. Residents of Durga Province colony faced difficulties as floodwater entered their houses, affecting about 30 families.
Basements of apartment buildings were flooded, resulting in submerged cars and elevators. Despite the inundation, authorities did not provide immediate assistance to the affected residents. Some individuals took matters into their own hands by using motors to pump out water from the buildings. The heavy rains, accompanied by gusty winds, also affected parts of western and southern Hyderabad and its outskirts, leading to waterlogging in various areas.
Chandanagar, Miyapur, Serilingampally, Kondapur, Rajendranagar, Shamshabad, Bandlaguda, and Chandrayangutta were among the areas impacted by the heavy rainfall. According to the Telangana Development Planning Society, Chandanagar received the highest rainfall at 12.8 cm, followed by Ameenpur at 12.15 cm and Serlingampally at 11.98 cm. Additionally, several areas in Rajendranagar, Ramachandrapuram, Serlingampally, Ameenpur, and Patancheru mandals experienced moderate rainfall.
The torrential downpour caused power disruptions in the affected regions. Furthermore, overnight rains resulted in severe waterlogging near Ramdev Baba Mandir in Shivrampally Jagir under Rajendranagar mandal. To address the situation, the Disaster Response Force (DRF) and Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) teams were working to clear the waterlogged areas.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar commended the police personnel for their dedicated efforts in managing the adverse weather conditions and ensuring public safety. He highlighted the prompt response of traffic police in addressing waterlogging issues and participating in relief operations. The Commissioner urged the public to adhere to official traffic advisories for safe travel during the rainy season.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted heavy rainfall in isolated places in Jagtial, Rajanna Siricilla, Medak, and Kamareddy districts of Telangana. Thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, were expected to occur at isolated locations across all districts of the state.
