Himachal Pradesh BJP President Rajeev Bindal commended the launch of the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (VB–G RAM G Act) under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. This scheme aims to revolutionize rural India by not only offering jobs but also integrating employment with rural development. Bindal emphasized the need for this new scheme, highlighting its focus on creating a more effective and development-oriented approach compared to previous initiatives.
Successive governments since Independence have introduced various rural employment schemes, with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) being a significant one. However, recognizing the changing socio-economic landscape and shortcomings, the VB–G RAM G Act was introduced to provide a legal guarantee of 125 days of employment linked to development projects. This innovative scheme involves village-level planning, integration with the PM Gati Shakti platform, and a technology-driven monitoring system for accountability.
One key feature of the VB–G RAM G scheme is its emphasis on technology, including biometric attendance, digital monitoring, and a review mechanism for timely payments. Bindal clarified that the funding pattern benefits states like Himachal Pradesh with a 90:10 Centre-state ratio, ensuring effective implementation. By presenting comparative data, he highlighted the significant increase in employment generation and completed works during the NDA government’s tenure, showcasing the BJP’s commitment to rural development.
