A Hindu advocacy group has expressed alarm over the deteriorating situation of religious minorities, especially Hindus, in Bangladesh. HinduAction highlighted escalating violence and persecution, urging the US Congress and administration to take stronger action. The organization aims to raise awareness among lawmakers about the challenges faced by Hindus in South Asia, including Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Utsav Chakrabarty of HinduAction emphasized the plight of Hindus in Pakistan, a minority group facing abductions, forced conversions, and trafficking. Despite being indigenous to the land for thousands of years, Hindus in Pakistan are experiencing severe hardships. HinduAction is actively working to assist Hindu refugees from Pakistan who have sought shelter in India.
In Bangladesh, Chakrabarty pointed out a concerning trend where the situation for Hindus has worsened over the past year and a half. He highlighted the rise of Jamat Islami in Bangladesh and the deteriorating conditions for Hindus following recent political changes. Incidents of public beatings, humiliation, and violence against Hindus have sparked outrage globally, prompting calls for action to address these atrocities.
Chakrabarty criticized the lack of attention from US lawmakers towards the issues faced by Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh. He urged Congress to speak out more forcefully and factually against the abuses suffered by Hindu minorities in these countries. HinduAction is committed to engaging with policymakers to ensure that the voices of persecuted communities are heard and acted upon.
