Hyderabad City Police carried out a significant joint cordon and search mission, named ‘Operation Thunderbolt,’ early on Thursday in Mangar Basti to eliminate illicit drug trafficking and anti-social activities.
Armed forces and special teams were mobilized for the operation, guided strategically by Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar. A total of 1,100 personnel from various police units participated, including Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), Task Force H-FAST, the Central Crime Station (CCS), the CAR Armed Forces, and Local City Civil Police.
The operation, conducted with precision in the jurisdiction of Habeeb Nagar Police Station, involved extensive coordination among specialized wings of the city police. It began at 3:30 a.m. and was overseen by Additional Commissioner of Police, Crimes & SIT, S.M. Srinivas, and Additional Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Tafsir Iqbal.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, supervised the field operations on-site. The police confiscated 150 sachets of ganja, 32 cough syrup bottles, one kg of dry ganja, and liquor bottles during the operation. Several law-breakers, including drug offenders and property offenders, were apprehended.
