The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall in various parts of Tamil Nadu over the next five days due to low-pressure systems in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Coastal areas are likely to experience intermittent rainfall, while interior regions may remain dry. Moderate rain is expected on Monday and Tuesday along the coast and Puducherry, driven by a low-pressure area drawing moisture towards Tamil Nadu. Interior districts, however, are anticipated to stay mostly dry.
Parts of Tamil Nadu may receive moderate rainfall on January 7, with rainfall extending to both coastal and interior regions on January 8, bringing scattered moderate showers across the state. On January 10, southern and northern Tamil Nadu may experience moderate rain, indicating a wider spread of rainfall. The IMD also forecasts a dip in temperatures across the state, with minimum temperatures expected to fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next two days, leading to a noticeable chill in the early morning hours.
Chennai and nearby areas are expected to have generally cloudy skies, with light mist or fog during the early morning hours reducing visibility in some places. Sunlight is likely to be subdued, contributing to cooler daytime conditions. Residents, especially those in coastal and low-lying regions, are advised to stay alert to weather updates as intermittent rainfall, fog, and cooler temperatures could impact daily activities and travel. The IMD is closely monitoring the evolving weather systems and will issue further advisories if needed.
