India and Canada engaged in discussions to enhance defense cooperation and explore collaboration opportunities across various sectors. The meeting took place between Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Canada’s Senior Associate Deputy Minister of National Defence Kelvin Brosseau on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.
During the interaction, both sides deliberated on ways to bolster India-Canada defense ties and deepen collaboration in key domains, reflecting the increasing alignment of strategic interests between the two countries. Additionally, Singh met with Seychelles’ Chief of Defence Forces Major General Micheal Rosette to further strengthen defense cooperation and maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region.
Furthermore, Singh held discussions with Chair of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Military Committee Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone to enhance strategic dialogue and address evolving global security challenges. The engagements reaffirmed India’s commitment to constructive involvement with significant multilateral defense organizations.
In another meeting, Singh interacted with US Indo-Pacific Command Commander Admiral Samuel J Paparo to strengthen military-to-military cooperation, enhance collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region, and address emerging security issues. These discussions underscored the shared commitment to deepening strategic defense ties between India and the US.
Apart from bilateral engagements, Singh participated in dialogues with leading think tanks and academia on fortifying the Indo-Pacific security architecture, promoting defense industrial collaboration, and fostering emerging technology partnerships. He also co-chaired the 16th Defense Policy Dialogue with Permanent Secretary (Defense) of Singapore, Joseph Leong, focusing on defense cooperation and security collaboration.
