India and the United States are enhancing collaboration in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and critical minerals. Officials from both nations highlighted the shift from policy frameworks to practical projects and trusted technology supply chains during a high-level roundtable in Washington. India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Kwatra, emphasized the complementary strengths in emerging technologies between the two countries.
The discussions at the roundtable, organized by the US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum, focused on strengthening critical supply chains, accelerating AI innovation, and enhancing economic resilience. S. Krishnan, Secretary in India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, noted India’s emergence as a reliable partner in the global technology supply chain. He highlighted India’s expanding electronics manufacturing ecosystem and semiconductor fabrication capabilities.
K. Nagaraj Naidu, Additional Secretary (Americas) in the Ministry of External Affairs, described the evolving India-US relationship as a comprehensive strategic partnership suited for emerging technologies. He emphasized the transition from principles to projects in areas such as AI, quantum technologies, critical minerals, and trusted supply chains. Mukesh Aghi, President and CEO of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, underlined the significance of microchips and critical minerals in shaping the future global economy.
The roundtable, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Washington and the Silverado Policy Accelerator, included key officials from the US Department of Commerce and the US Department of Energy. Closer cooperation among governments, industries, and research institutions is deemed crucial as India and the United States deepen their engagement in emerging technologies and resilient supply chains.
