India secured two gold medals in the girls’ finals. Rakhi (46kg) claimed gold with a strong RSC win in the second round against Rukhshonabonu Ahadova (UZB). Navya (57kg) added the second gold by defeating Sara Kono (JPN) with a dominant 4:0 victory. In other matches, Khushi Chand (48kg) settled for silver, Diya (63kg) and Himanshi (70kg) secured silver medals, Jyoti (75kg) and Vanshika (80kg) faced defeats, and Gurseerat Kaur lost in a close contest in the 80+kg category.
In the boys’ finals, Lakshay Phogat (75kg) finished with a silver medal after losing to Marufjon Toshpulatov (UZB). The boys’ team concluded with 1 silver and 4 bronze medals overall. India’s U-17 campaign highlighted the strength in the girls’ categories, contributing to the country’s success at the championships.
On a previous day, U-15 girls excelled with 7 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze medals, while the U-15 boys added 2 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze medals. Notable performances included Anzee (37kg) securing gold, Tanvi winning gold in 43kg, and Angel (70kg) finishing with a gold. The U-15 boys also clinched two gold medals.
