Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi will jointly inaugurate Maruti Suzuki India’s new automobile manufacturing facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana. This marks Maruti Suzuki’s fourth manufacturing plant in India and signifies a substantial investment in the country. The automaker’s cumulative investment in its four facilities amounts to around Rs 35,000 crore, showcasing a strong commitment to the Indian market.
The new Kharkhoda facility is expected to significantly increase Maruti Suzuki’s production capacity, positioning India as a key global automobile manufacturing hub. Once operational, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 10 lakh passenger vehicles, becoming one of the company’s largest manufacturing centers. This inauguration underscores the deepening strategic and economic ties between India and Japan.
The collaboration between India’s Maruti and Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation exemplifies successful Japanese investment in India’s manufacturing sector. The Kharkhoda plant is crucial for Maruti Suzuki to meet its long-term production goals and support India’s aim to become a global manufacturing base for automobiles and auto components. This expansion aligns with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, focusing on enhancing domestic manufacturing, job creation, and export growth.
Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Takaichi recently met at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi.
