India has refuted allegations that it took five days to sign the condolence book for the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei at the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi. The Ministry of External Affairs clarified that Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri signed the book on the first day it was opened. Misri, on behalf of the Government of India, extended condolences on March 5 over Khamenei’s passing.

The signing took place following Khamenei’s death in a significant attack by the US and Israel on February 28, leading to a period of national mourning in Iran. The Iranian Embassy in New Delhi welcomed individuals to offer sympathies by signing the condolence book, which was accessible from March 5 to March 9. The embassy expressed gratitude to various Indian dignitaries and the public for their support.

On March 11, the Iranian Embassy in India conveyed appreciation to the people of India, government representatives, and others who visited to express condolences. The Embassy highlighted the presence of leaders, officials, and citizens who paid respects to Khamenei. The gesture of solidarity and sympathy towards Iran was acknowledged and valued by the Embassy.
