APEDA highlighted India’s prowess in high-quality agricultural production, value addition, and export-oriented supply chains at the ‘AAHAR 2026’. The event, inaugurated by the minister, aims to boost India’s presence in global markets. The pavilion at the 40th edition of AAHAR 2026 brought together exporters, startups, state agencies, and producer organizations to promote India’s diverse agri-export basket.
The event, organized by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), features Italy as the country partner. India’s agricultural exports, including processed foods, fruits, pulses, and vegetables, have shown significant growth over the past decade. The country’s expanding network of free trade agreements is creating new opportunities for agricultural exports.
APEDA unveiled research reports on cucumber, cashew, pineapple, and pomegranate during the event. These reports were developed in collaboration with the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). Additionally, APEDA introduced packaging design solutions and technical standards for region-specific agricultural products in partnership with the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP).
The initiative focuses on enhancing product protection, shelf life, and export presentation for GI-tagged and organic products. Some of the products covered under this initiative include Karbi Anglong Ginger from Assam, G4 Chilli, Jalgaon Banana from Maharashtra, Assam Kaji Nemu, and Prayagraj Surkha Guava from Uttar Pradesh. The pavilion at the event showcased major export segments like basmati rice, non-basmati rice, organic products, and emerging plant-based foods.
Several states, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, set up pavilions to exhibit region-specific products and export-ready agricultural produce.
