Opener Lakshay Raichandani’s impressive double century and wicketkeeper-batter Manav Krishna’s patient hundred stood out in India Under-19’s strong batting performance against Sri Lanka Under-19 in Galle. Raichandani scored 207 off 324 balls, including 22 boundaries and three sixes, while Krishna contributed a well-compiled 100 off 153 deliveries with six fours and three sixes.
India posted a massive total of 576 in their first innings, taking a significant 152-run lead over Sri Lanka, who had declared at 424 for nine. Sri Lanka Under-19, facing a deficit, fought back in their second innings to reach 178/6 before declaring. India’s skipper Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan’s impressive bowling figures of 4-49 briefly troubled the hosts.
Despite Chauhan’s efforts, Sri Lankan batsmen Dulnith Sigera, Kavija Gamage, and Chamika Heenatigala ensured their team’s safety with notable contributions, leading to a draw on the final day. The match, which lacked a clear outcome, will now move to Colombo for the second four-day game starting on July 20.
