The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) praised Team India for their victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, defeating New Zealand in the final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. India’s remarkable 96-run win in the final delighted the home crowd. This win is historic as India becomes the first team to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title and the first to win it on home soil.

Led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, Team India showcased fearless and dynamic cricket, excelling in batting, bowling, and fielding. The BCCI acknowledged head coach Gautam Gambhir and the support staff for their leadership and preparation. The Men’s Selection Committee was praised for assembling a squad that combined experience with youthful energy, delivering on the grand stage.

BCCI President Mithun Manhas expressed immense pride in the team’s achievement, emphasizing the significance of defending the title on home turf. Secretary Devajit Saikia highlighted India’s recent success in hosting and winning major ICC events, attributing it to strong foundations and progressive planning. Vice-President Rajeev Shukla commended the team’s collective effort, preparation, and composure in high-pressure situations, emphasizing the historic nature of the victory.
