The Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, was honored with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Headquarters during his official visit to Sri Lanka. This visit signifies a significant diplomatic and Defense engagement between the two countries. The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka shared on social media that Air Chief Marshal Singh also paid tribute to the IPKF martyrs by laying a wreath at a monument in Battaramulla.
The purpose of the Chief of the Air Staff’s three-day official visit to Sri Lanka is to bolster bilateral Defense cooperation and strengthen military-to-military engagement between India and Sri Lanka. The visit aims to enhance India-Sri Lanka military cooperation and improve coordination in the Indian Ocean Region. Air Chief Marshal Singh is scheduled to stay in Sri Lanka until May 21, according to the Sri Lanka Air Force.
During his visit, Air Chief Marshal Singh engaged in discussions with the Sri Lankan Defense leadership, including the Commander of the Sri Lankan Air Force, to reinforce operational cooperation and expand Defense ties between the two nations. He also met with Sri Lanka’s Deputy Defence Minister and Defence Secretary, emphasizing the ongoing high-level engagement between India and Sri Lanka. Additionally, Air Chief Marshal Singh is set to visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and meet with the chiefs of the Sri Lankan Army and Navy during his stay.
