The Ambassador of India to Kuwait, Paramita Tripathi, met with Kuwait’s Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Dr. Tareq Al-Jalahma, to strengthen cooperation in sports and youth engagement. They discussed implementing the Executive Programme on Sports Cooperation signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kuwait in December 2024, as well as future opportunities for exchanges, training programs, sporting events, and youth initiatives.
Both sides also talked about collaborating for the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 in Kuwait, emphasizing the shared commitment of India and Kuwait to promote sports, holistic health, and wellness. Prime Minister Modi’s official visit to Kuwait in December 2024, at the invitation of the Amir of Kuwait, included attending the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup as the ‘Guest of Honour.’
During the visit, both India and Kuwait expressed satisfaction with the signing of the Executive Programme on Cooperation in the Field of Sports for 2025-2028. This agreement aims to enhance cooperation in sports through mutual exchanges, visits of sportsmen, workshops, seminars, conferences, and sharing sports publications. The historic India-Kuwait relationship values centuries-old people-to-people ties as a crucial foundation, with the Kuwaiti leadership acknowledging the significant role of the Indian community in Kuwait’s progress and development.
