Indian Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, expressed enthusiasm for the recent trade deal between India and the US, highlighting it as a significant development in their partnership. The trade deal was announced following discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump.
President Trump shared details of the trade deal on Truth Social, mentioning a reduction in US tariffs on Indian goods and emphasizing the importance of energy cooperation and broader geopolitical objectives. The agreement also included discussions on trade, as well as strategies to address conflicts in regions like Ukraine.
Trump underscored that the trade deal would lead to an immediate reduction in tariffs on Indian goods and a commitment from India to decrease barriers against the US to zero. Additionally, there were agreements for India to increase purchases of American products, particularly in the energy, technology, and agricultural sectors.
Both PM Modi and President Trump expressed satisfaction with the trade deal, with PM Modi appreciating the reduced tariffs on Indian products. Modi emphasized the benefits of collaboration between two major economies and the world’s largest democracies, foreseeing substantial opportunities for mutual cooperation.
PM Modi commended President Trump’s efforts in promoting global peace and prosperity, expressing India’s full support for such initiatives. Modi also expressed eagerness to enhance the partnership between India and the US to unprecedented levels.
