An Indian Army Brigadier and his son were reportedly assaulted by a group of men in South Delhi’s Vasant Enclave after objecting to individuals drinking alcohol in a parked car. The incident occurred on April 11 around 10:00 p.m.
The Brigadier, currently stationed in Gujarat but residing in Delhi, encountered the individuals consuming alcohol outside his residence after dinner. Upon raising objections, an argument ensued between the parties involved.
Following the altercation, the Brigadier called the police, who arrived after 20 minutes. Subsequently, the occupants of the vehicle allegedly called more people who then assaulted the Brigadier’s son. The Brigadier himself was also reportedly manhandled when he tried to intervene.
The Indian Army has taken the matter seriously and is providing support to the officer. A Military Police team has been tasked to assist, and the Delhi Police has been requested to investigate and take necessary actions.
Colonel Danvir Singh expressed concerns over the incident on social media, highlighting the assault on the Brigadier and his son. He criticized the police’s response and emphasized the Brigadier’s past service in challenging environments. Singh also noted the eventual lodging of an FIR and expressed hope for justice in the case.
