Outstanding performances by javelin thrower Anand Singh and the women’s 4x400m relay team boosted India’s gold medal count on the final day of the Asian U23 Athletics Championships in Ordos, China. Anand Singh clinched gold with a remarkable throw of 80.57m, while the women’s relay team secured another gold with a timing of 3:33.62 seconds. In total, the Indian team bagged 16 medals, including three gold, four silver, and nine bronze.
Anand Singh’s gold-winning throw in javelin at 80.57m, a personal best achieved in his final attempt, was a standout moment. His compatriot Shivam Lohakare also impressed, securing the bronze with a throw of 77.70m. The women’s 4x400m relay team, comprising Shravani Sachin Sangle, Sandramol Sabu, Pravallika Narimalla, and Nofisa Khatun, clocked 3:33.62 seconds to claim the gold.
India’s dominance continued with the women’s 4x100m relay team winning silver in 44.68 seconds, closely following China who took gold in 43.75 seconds. The men’s 4x400m relay team also secured silver with a timing of 3:04.24 seconds. However, the men’s 4x100m relay finished fourth with a timing of 39.38 seconds.
In other events, Sudeep finished fifth in the men’s high jump with a height of 2.10m, while Bhumeshwory Devi Huidrom placed seventh in the women’s 1500m with a timing of 4:29.81 seconds. Sachin Garhwal finished sixth in the men’s half marathon race walk with a timing of 1:36:48, and Aarti secured fourth place in the women’s half marathon race walk with a timing of 1:45:40.
