India’s U-17 boys faced tough competition at the Asian Boxing U17 Championships 2026 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Lakshay Phogat stood out as the sole finalist in the 75kg category, securing a place in the final by defeating Seungmin Lee of Korea. Additionally, four Indian boxers clinched bronze medals after their semifinal fights.
In other weight categories, Indian boxers had mixed results. Narendra Nella (46kg) lost to Abdulloh Nuraliev of Uzbekistan, Yash Yadav (50kg) was defeated by Suld Usukhbaatar of Mongolia, Nivesh Pal (54kg) suffered a loss against Abdulbosit Yursunboev of Uzbekistan, and Naman (70kg) narrowly lost to Abduvohid Abdumajidov of Uzbekistan.
With one finalist and four bronze medalists, the Indian U-17 boys’ team aims to finish strong in the upcoming finals. Meanwhile, India’s U-17 girls continued their impressive performance at the championships, with eight boxers advancing to the finals and four securing bronze medals in the semifinals.
Rakhi (46kg) showcased a dominant performance, Khushi Chand (48kg) secured a clear victory, and Navya (57kg) advanced to the final with a win. However, Mamta Murlidhar Raut (52kg), Laxmi Manjunath Lamani (54kg), Ishika (60kg), Diya (63kg), Harnoor Kaur (66kg), Himanshi (70kg), Jyoti (75kg), and Vanshika (80kg) faced tough opponents in their respective categories.
With a total of eight finalists and four bronze medalists, the Indian U-17 girls’ team is now focused on converting their strong performances into gold medals in the upcoming finals.
