Several Indian diaspora members shared their enthusiasm, with one individual mentioning their admiration for Modi’s influence and iconic status. Another member, who has been in Malaysia for a decade, expressed gratitude for the chance to meet Modi outside of India, emphasizing his global impact and the pride associated with being from “Modi Ji’s country.” The diaspora community in Malaysia sees Modi’s visit as a significant opportunity to strengthen ties and engage with him directly.
PM Modi’s visit aims to bolster defense and security cooperation, as well as enhance economic and innovation partnerships between India and Malaysia. This visit marks Modi’s third trip to Malaysia and follows the elevation of the India-Malaysia relationship to a ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership’ in August 2024. Modi looks forward to discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to further enhance this strategic partnership.
