The Indian Golf Union, led by Brijinder Singh, a recognized National Sports Federation, will send a six-member Indian team to compete in the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The golf events for both men and women are set to take place from September 30 to October 3, 2026, at the Kasugai Country Club East Course.
Yuvraj Sandhu, ranked 451st globally, will lead the Indian men’s team, which includes Veer Ahlawat (World No. 558) and Saptak Talwar (World No. 576). On the other hand, Aditi Ashok, currently ranked 135th worldwide, will lead the women’s squad, featuring Diksha Dagar (World No. 221) and Pranavi Urs (World No. 270). The selection of entries was based on the IGU Selection policy for Asian Games, available on the federation’s official website.
Brijinder Singh, the president of the Indian Golf Union, expressed confidence in the national team’s performance in Japan. Singh highlighted the talent within the squad, including Yuvraj Sandhu, Aditi Ashok, and Diksha Dagar, emphasizing their achievements in various tours. The team selection was solely based on World Rankings, and Singh is optimistic about India’s podium finish this time.
India has a rich history in golf at the Asian Games, securing three gold and three silver medals over the years. Notable victories include the team gold in 1982 Asiad and individual golds by players like Lakshman Singh and Shiv Kapur. The Indian team has consistently performed well, clinching medals in various editions of the Asian Games, showcasing the country’s prowess in golf.
