Indian Navy Chief, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, held discussions with Greek Navy General Staff chief Vice Admiral Dimitrios Eleftherios Kataras in New Delhi. The meeting focused on enhancing maritime cooperation through navy-to-navy and joint exercises and training exchanges.
Vice Admiral Kataras received a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the South Block Lawns before the meeting. Both leaders emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral maritime cooperation through joint exercises, training exchanges, and operational collaboration. They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting maritime security and deeper professional engagement.
Greece’s National Defence Minister Nikolaos-Georgios Dendias recently visited India at the invitation of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. During the visit, discussions were held to enhance the capacity of their indigenous defence industries through a partnership between India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and Hellenic defence reforms under ‘Agenda 2030.’ The India-Greece Strategic Partnership is based on shared values of peace, stability, freedom, and mutual respect.
Rajnath Singh and Dendias also exchanged a Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2026, outlining the military engagements between the armed forces of both countries. The ministers discussed regional peace and security issues and highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and strategic ties. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also met with Dendias to discuss strategic and security matters.
