All Indian seafarers in West Asia and the Gulf region are confirmed safe, with no reported incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels in the past 24 hours, as per government reports. The Directorate General of Shipping has successfully repatriated over 2,487 Indian seafarers to date, including 34 individuals in the last day from various locations in the Gulf region. Port operations across India are running smoothly without any congestion, as stated in an official announcement. Measures have been implemented by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways to ensure the safety of Indian vessels and seafarers operating in the region.
Necessary coordination between the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Missions, and maritime stakeholders is ongoing to guarantee the welfare of seafarers and maintain uninterrupted maritime operations. The Ministry of External Affairs is actively monitoring the situation in the Gulf and West Asia region, focusing on the safety, security, and welfare of the Indian community. Regular updates and advisories are being issued, including information on local government guidelines, flight and travel conditions, and consular services to support the Indian community in the region.
Flights are still operational from countries with open airspace, with approximately 10,68,000 passengers having traveled from the region to India since February 28. In the UAE, limited non-scheduled commercial flights are being operated between the UAE and India for operational and safety reasons, with around 110 flights scheduled for today. Flights are also continuing from various airports in Saudi Arabia and Oman to destinations in India. The Embassy of India in Tehran has facilitated the movement of 2,373 Indian nationals from Iran to Armenia and Azerbaijan for onward travel to India, including students and fishermen.
