The Indian U18 women’s hockey team showcased a dominant performance, securing a 4-1 victory over Australia in the final match of the series held at the Udhav Das Mehta (Bhai Ji) Central SAI Centre in Bhopal. Australia initially took the lead in the first quarter with a goal from Aurora Kovacevich (8’), but India quickly responded as captain Sweety Kujur (13’) equalized before the quarter ended.
Continuing their strong momentum, India surged ahead in the second quarter with Diya (25’) finding the net, granting them a 2-1 lead at halftime. The Indian team maintained control in the second half, further extending their lead in the third quarter through Priyanka Minz (44’). Nausheen Naz (50’) sealed the victory with another goal in the final quarter, solidifying a comprehensive win for the hosts.
The triumph marked a remarkable conclusion for the Indian team in a challenging series, serving as valuable preparation for the upcoming U18 Asia Cup set to commence later this month in Japan. Despite this victory, Australia emerged victorious in the four-match series, part of an exposure tour, with a 3-1 overall score.
