India’s Ambassador to Benin, Abhishek Singh, presented his Letter of Credence to President Romuald Wadagni at the Presidential Villa in Cotonou on July 10, 2026. President Wadagni warmly welcomed Singh and offered his congratulations and best wishes for his new role.
Singh emphasized India’s dedication to enhancing its partnership with Benin and expressed optimism about the ongoing progress in bilateral cooperation across various sectors. The Indian High Commission in Abuja, which is also accredited to Benin and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), is committed to nurturing and reinforcing the relationship between India and Benin.
During his discussions with President Wadagni, Ambassador Singh addressed key bilateral matters, aiming to further solidify the ties between India and Benin. Singh’s interactions with Minister Olushegun Adjadi Bakari focused on broadening India–Benin collaboration, particularly in areas such as pharmaceuticals, agriculture, digital payments, and tourism, among others. Both parties reiterated their dedication to strengthening the bilateral relations between the two nations.
