India’s general flexi staffing industry witnessed a 7.9% increase in net headcount growth in FY26, as reported by the Indian Staffing Federation (ISF). The sector added 1.18 lakh formal temporary and flexible workers during the fiscal year, bringing the total formal flexi workforce to 1.91 million. IT staffing also showed positive growth with a 10.1% year-on-year increase in new employment.
Manmeet Singh, the President of ISF, highlighted that despite global economic challenges, India’s staffing sector has remained a key contributor to formal job creation. Farhan Azmi, Vice President of ISF, attributed the growth to GCCs and project expansions in retail, logistics, and manufacturing sectors.
The industry’s resilience was evident with a 0.9% quarter-on-quarter net growth in flexi employment in Q4 FY26. The report emphasized sustained demand from e-commerce, quick-commerce, and 3PL warehousing post a successful festive season. The ISF emphasized the need for continued focus on formalization and skill development to support India’s employment and economic goals.
