India’s High Commissioner to Cyprus, Manish, extended congratulations to Major K P Singh, a Staff Officer at the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), for receiving the United Nations (UN) Medal. The High Commissioner, along with other dignitaries, attended the UNFICYP medal Parade at the UN Cyprus HQs, where Major K P Singh was recognized for his service and dedication to the Mission.
India has a longstanding commitment to supporting UN peacekeeping missions globally, with a notable history of contributing to UNFICYP. The High Commission highlighted the significant roles played by Indian Force Commanders in UNFICYP, including Lt. Gen. Prem Singh Gyani, Gen K S Thimayya, and Lt Gen. Dewan Prem Chand.
In a recent ceremony held at the Permanent Operating Base Sake in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), 651 Indian Army personnel serving under the United Nations were honored with the United Nations Medal. The event, attended by UN officials and military commanders, recognized the professionalism and dedicated service of the Indian contingent in the UN peacekeeping mission.
