Some members of India’s T20 squad began training for the upcoming five-match series against New Zealand at the New VCA Stadium in Nagpur. The series will be India’s final preparation before the Men’s T20 World Cup defense starting on February 7.
Players like Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and others participated in the optional practice session on Sunday. Hardik Pandya, however, opted out of the training and might join the session under lights on Monday for practice focused on fitness and skills.
The Indian T20I team is set for another practice session on Monday evening, with the rest of the squad from the ongoing ODI series expected to join. Following the Nagpur game, the T20I matches will be held in Raipur, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Thiruvananthapuram on different dates.
India has made changes to the squad, bringing in Bishnoi and Iyer for Sundar and Varma due to injuries. Iyer will be available for the first three matches, while Varma is expected to recover for the last two games. The teams are currently engaged in a three-match ODI series.
